Rust Removal Methods and Techniques
There are three basic ways to apply our Rust Removers: [click below for shortcut]
IMMERSION:
This is the most popular method of applying our rust remover. Simply mix our concentrate at 10% rust remover concentrate to 90% water in a suitable container. Place your part into the solution, insure that the solution covers your part. Let stand until the rust has been dissolved off the part.
The areas in contact with the bottom of the container or touching another part might not get enough exposure to the solution (contact points) and moving the parts around may be helpful.
This steel carpenters square was stored in the back of a pickup truck for the entire summer. It rusted to a point where it was not useful. The square could not be read and it left rust on the wood when used.
The customer immersed one end of the square into our 10% rust removing solution and removed it in about 2-3 hours. Note: that the painted engraved letters can still be read and was unaffected by the rust remover.
The used solution can be reused over and over until the color turns black. To store this used fluid, simply place into a closed container and store in cool area.
Continuous Spray
This method utilizes a pump, tubing, sprayer nozzle, plastic sheeting and a catch basin or container.
Pour enough solution into the catch basin to pump and flow over the desired area. Start the pump and start removing rust. When the rust has been dissolved off one area, simply move the sprayer to another area until the job is done.
Advantages:
-
minimal amount of fluid used to remove rust from large or tall objects.
-
removes rust in only areas that you need
-
works great on hard to get areas where a spray can reach

Application by Hand
This method is only suitable for flash rust or lightly rusted objects. If the rusting started to pit the surface, then this method might not work.
Try a small area to determine if this will work for you or not.
Mix up 10% industrial concentrate to 90% water in a small container. Use an abrasive pad (can use the ones for sinks, etc) and dip the pad into our solution.
Rub on the rusted surface. You don't have to rub hard, and the mechanical action of the fluid and solution will start to dissolve off the rust. See picture to the right.
Note that the rust is lifting off the surface.
Wipe off the dissolved rust with a paper towel or rinse off with water.
The rust is now gone and the fluid did not harm the painters tape.
